As I see it, a portrait is a project you and I do together. The success of the project depends in part on how well you can convey to me exactly what you want your portrait to say about you, how you want to be remembered generations from now.
Once commissioned, I will visit you and we will discuss what you want in terms of size, atmosphere, mood, and palette. I’ll take lots of digital photos at this meeting and we will look at them together to be sure I know what you want and you know what to expect. This part of the project usually takes several hours. On rare occasions, I will ask to see you again for additional photos.
